« Nothing is normal. Maybe nothing will ever be normal again. For me it won’t. My husband is gone, « said Bobbie in a caption to a photo of himself and Michael in the hospital. « With all the fear, anger, and division that currently rages in the world, it’s so easy to get upset about the lack of normalcy. But I ask all of you who are reading this to hold on to what you have now instead of focusing on what you are not doing. One thing we all have is kindness. Absorb, lengthen, exhaust. Because in the end only love counts. If you are lucky enough to have it please cherish it every moment and every day. Especially during the hard parts. There will never be enough time and some of our ages are way too short. «
Her call for gratitude continued with, « As I type through tears, I embrace gratitude . . . We kept our precious son Miles and memories of the time I had with Michael closer to my broken heart. Thank you for the love and support you have shown us and our families. Please hug the people you love. «
Michael suffered a stroke in 2019 and dealt with health complications after the ordeal. After his stroke, he first had to use a wheelchair, but was able to walk with assistance in May 2020.
« We celebrate every little victory. It’s hard to appreciate those little things when we look ahead, « explained Bobbie this May. « In a weird way, I would never want this to happen to anyone, but there have been so many gifts that came with the re-prioritization and there is a bond we have that is unbreakable. «
Bobbie and Michael got married in 2013. In 2015, the couple welcomed their first child, Miles Marion, after struggling with fertility issues.
In June, Bobbie shared a video of Michael holding Miles for the first time since his stroke.
« A moment like this – the first time Michael has been able to save Miles for a hug since his stroke – is why I’ve temporarily withdrawn from social media over the past few months, » she wrote. « With the world going at full blast, I wanted a ‘digital space’ to focus on being present. In the midst of Covid, protests and more, there has never been a better time to listen and learn. And personally, there was a lot to hug – my wedding day (# 7!), Father’s Day, Miles’ last day of Pre-K, the first day of summer, and of course, Michael’s continued recovery. «
