Clean Energy Fuels Corp. . says it is with BP Products North America Inc. . , a subsidiary of bp, develops, owns and operates new renewable natural gas (RNG) plants in dairies and other agricultural facilities.
Carbon emissions extracted from dairies and converted into transport fuel reduce the harmful effects on long-term climate change. As a result, the California Air Resources Board gives these carbon-negative RNG projects a Carbon Intensity (CI) (gCO2e / MJ) value of -250 (or less) compared to 97 for diesel and 46 for electric batteries. The demand for this carbon negative fuel has accelerated significantly in recent years. Some of the largest high performance fleets in the world such as UPS, Republic Services, the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and LA Metro currently and successfully operate tens of thousands of vehicles on RNG.
Clean Energy is the largest supplier of RNG as a transport fuel in the USA. S.. . and Canada, the largest RNG fuel supplier under the California LCFS program, currently has a joint RNG marketing agreement with bp that was signed in 2018. In addition to the carbon-negative fuel, Clean Energy will continue to source RNG from third parties to serve its network of 550 gas stations in North America and to maintain its position in the California LCFS market. This is also another important step in Clean Energy’s drive to meet rapidly growing customer demand for carbon negative RNG and redeem 100% branded RNG for all fuel infrastructure by 2025, which the company believes is well on the way to accomplish this.
