One employee tested positive in October and another in November and company said the issues are separate and unrelated and there was no transmission in the workplace

Revelstoke is the closest community to the Mica Dam, a hydroelectric dam that straddles the Columbia River, approximately 150 km away

Official spokesperson Jane Walker-Larsen said the first employee has since recovered and the second is self-isolating

BC Hydro said that when they have a presumptive positive condition, their triage team is activated to conduct contact tracing and to ensure that affected persons are isolated by themselves and arrange sanitation for areas where the individual has been.

The company said it regularly reviews and amends safety protocols based on health authorities’ guidance.

Mica Dam Company has 50 permanent employees, but the workforce could be increased to 135 employees for the current renovation project

From January to September 2020, there were three confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Revelstoke, the British Columbia CDC reported. However, this number does not include hypothetical cases.

As of November 12, there are 5,133 active cases, of which 925 (about 18 percent) are in the Inland Health District
