Police found that Bryan had engaged in « some sort of argument with the woman – whom he has a relationship with – and it turned out to be physical, » with the woman claiming Bryan « put his hands around his throat and squeezed him «
The woman also told police Bryan tried to take her phone away when she tried to call 911, but was able to escape and go to a « safe place » where she could call
Bryan was reportedly arrested « without incident » and charged with strangulation, fourth degree assault and obstruction of report writing

A representative of the Eugene Police Department made the following statement to ET: “On October 16, 2020, at approximately 10:24 am Police officers from Eugene were dispatched to report a physical dispute at a house in the north of Eugene after neighbors called Officers arrived and found a man, later identified as Zachery Ty Bryan, 39, of Eugene, sitting outside an apartment The victim, 27, was in a nearby apartment An investigation revealed that during the conflict Bryan allegedly assaulted the victim, kept her breathing and took the victim’s phone from her as she tried to call 911 The two were in a relationship Victim refused medical treatment Bryan was taken into custody without incident and held in Lane County Jail for strangulation (APA), fourth degree assault (APA) and interfering with the report writing »
