. . World News – CA – Marquette vs.. . Xavier Prediction, Preview and Odds of Winning – Nov.. 12th. 2020

. . The fighting Marquette Golden Eagles were quick to put the ship back in order with an angry street win over the Xavier Musketeers. Will the hiatus from a long hiatus have a significant impact on the Musketeers' readiness for Sunday's game?

. .

The Marquette Golden Eagles hope to open the doors of the Cintas Center and disrupt the undefeated Xavier Musketeers in Sunday’s Big East Conference battle between enemies. Xavier gave Oklahoma on Jan.. December the first defeat of the season with a 99:77 blowout and since then there have only been postponements in connection with Covid. They hope to finally be able to face a Marquette team again that have lost two of their last three games.

Even after Sunday’s game against Xavier, they have a date with No.. Next up are Villanova Wildcats with 7 ranks.

While standing head to toe with some of the best teams in the country, the Musketeers have been waiting on the sidelines for the green light to continue their season. Marquette will clearly enter this game as a more synchronous basketball team.

The Golden Eagles haven’t been particularly good at generating sales this season, but you’d expect some to find their way in the face of the Musketeer’s sacking. D.. . J. . Carton is the team’s leading pick with an average of 2. 8 steals per game.

One area Marquette needs to be careful about is her full defense. It’s been a while since Xavier played, but they average 50. 8 percent shot from outside the bow in the last three games. The Musketeers don’t have Creighton’s offensive arsenal, but they do have an average of 83. 1 point per game. It would be unwise just to totally devalue them.

If Marquette can’t put Xavier on the defensive, they will have to rely on players like Koby McEwen and Dawson Garcia to keep up with the scorer machine on the other side, Zach Freemantle.

It doesn’t help that the team holding the « welcome back » sign is the same one that blew both Creighton and Wisconsin.

Second security guard, Zach Freemantle, needs to jump in and help ignite a crime that has been inactive for over a week. He averages 18. 7 points per game and well on the way to establishing yourself as the star of the team. Buckets come easily when you have an assistant like Paul Scruggs. His view of the ground is impeccable and he’s the kind of ball opposing coaches worry about when defending. He averages 7. 1 templates per game.

The numbers look good for Xavier defensively too, but they need to avoid Marquette’s snipers throwing too many open glances at the basket. This type of problem could cause serious problems in this game. Marquette is not a team to be offensively underestimated.

Insider status:

Marquette has defeated Xavier for two consecutive seasons with a total of four straight wins. Xavier has managed to collect statistics by facing far less competition than the Golden Eagles. All of that will of course come to a head when the two teams finally clash on Sunday. Marquette has the defense to block Scruggs and ruin the flow of a Xavier offense that, up until that point, looked like a well-oiled machine.

Marquette will jump into this game after losing two of her last three games, including a recent conference game with Seton Hall. They will come out with greater urgency to avoid digging too deep into a hole at the start of the season.

It’s not that Xavier missed a month or anything, but timing her recent release isn’t easy to come back and have immediate success. You will need time to get back into the flow of things and find your rhythm on the offensive. They will be forced to try it on the fly against their toughest test yet in this game. You haven’t been ready for it in the past two years, and you won’t be ready this year either.

Insider status:

It’s a little too much to ask Xavier to just roll on the floor and get back to where they left off. Granted, that sounds a bit dramatic when you consider that they’ve only been on the break for a little over a week. But you also have to take your opponent into account. Marquette was busier against a much tougher group of opponents than the Musketeers. You will be able to turn Xavier’s return party into a defensive slog. Marquette doesn’t come up with the numbers we saw against Creighton on this case. They’ll do just enough offensively to get the win, but not enough to get the win. I roll with the sub in this one.
