The first symptom of Alberta was in quarantine for COVID-19 for the second time, after contacting someone who tested positive for the new coronavirus
Prime Minister Jason Kenny joined the media update Thursday on the COVID-19 case in the county over the phone from his home, stating that he was self-isolating
“Earlier today, I was informed that I have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus,” the prime minister said.
Whether his test results are positive or negative, Kenny said he will follow county guidelines that advise him to stay home for 14 days after the call, which was Monday, which means he will work from home until November 23
The Prime Minister said he has no symptoms of COVID-19 and is « fine » and said he was tested Thursday afternoon and said his results would be made public when they return
Kenny said that close contact under the Alberta Health Guidelines is within two meters of a person who has been confirmed to have the disease for more than 15 minutes – specifically within 48 hours before symptoms appear – and that he « falls within these criteria »
This isn’t the first time Kenny has awaited COVID-19 test results while self-isolating In October, the prime minister and several other ministers were forced into quarantine after Municipal Affairs Minister Tracy Allard tested positive for the virus.
Kenny quickly got a negative test result at the time, but remained isolated for two weeks
When asked in October when the rapid test would be delivered to Kenny, Chief Medical Officer for Health Dr. Dina Henshaw said there was a small list of provincial officials who got tested for COVID-19 quickly, including her and the prime minister, because they are Important to respond to the epidemic and said that this list was approved by the Council of Ministers
