York Regional Police say a Richmond Hill councilor and her spouse were charged with fraud after a new employee was allegedly ordered to pay the spouse part of their salary.
Between August 2019 and May, officials alleged it had been agreed that a newly hired councilor would give the spouse « a portion of his salary ».
Investigators said Coun. Karen Cilevitz, who represents Ward 5 in the city of Richmond Hill, was arrested and reported by an officer for fraud on 5. $ 000 and breach of trust charged.
