Residents of northern Alberta prepare for a winter explosion as Environment Canada issued weather warnings for parts of the region on Wednesday
« Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimeters are expected in some areas, » the weather agency said on its website « Freezing rain is expected to affect areas south of a line from the Peace River to Wabasca
Environment Canada has advised people to postpone all non-essential travel to the area until the weather improves
The meteorological agency issued a snow warning for parts of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and said between 10 and 20 centimeters of snow could fall there
« Heavy snowfall is expected to start this evening and end Thursday afternoon, » Environment Canada said « In the southern Fort McMurray area, freezing rain is also possible early Thursday morning
