The ship was straightened for the Tennessee Titans after a difficult stretch in which they lost three out of four games, having now won two straight wins, albeit without veteran pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney. The 27-year-old was recently brought to an injured reserve with a meniscus problem in his knee and surgery as an option to repair has not yet been ruled out. Having stopped playing in week 10, Clowney took time to make a decision on the latter, but apparently did so last week after reportedly undergoing surgery on Wednesday – according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport – and ended his season.

The 27-year-old banked on himself in 2020 and waved off several offers in the off-season when he was looking for a one-year contract that would both pay him well and allow him to re-enter the free hand in 2021. After the three-time end of the Pro Bowl defensive wasn’t as warmly received as it had hoped in the final wave of the free hand, it wanted to add value by helping the Titans’ defense become an opposing team fear, but Tennessee did. Even Clowney in tow struggled to beat opposing quarterbacks for most of the season.

While he was exerting great pressure, as shown by his six QB hits this year prior to injury, he didn’t register sacks in seven games and would have liked to have stayed on the field to change that before it went public for a second off-season in a row. After an off-season in 2019 where he only picked up three sacks for the Seattle Seahawks, that injury could well fuel his stocks in the open market by the end of the season.

For the Titans, it’s another big swing at Pass Rusher in 2020 that didn’t end the way they’d hoped it would. The other is the failed experiment with the now released Pass Rusher Vic Beasley. Nevertheless, head coach Mike Vrabel survived the storm with 8: 3 in the season. And now, from an individual standpoint, Clowney has to get through his own.
