UPDATE: The motorway is now free, but the congestion along the transit route remains high. Abbotsford Police have confirmed the collision of a pedestrian and said they will provide further updates shortly.
The westbound lanes on Highway 1 in Abbotsford are closed as emergency services are investigating a major early morning crash.
The crash occurred around 4:00 am. m. between Riverside and McCallum streets, and this part of the highway is completely blocked by emergency services.
The next update is at 8am. m. However, the expected reopening time is 9 a. m. according to DriveBC. Plan alternative routes as the vehicles are on Whatcom Road.
Vehicles stuck in traffic will make detours via the McCallum exit to Marshall Road and then back to Highway 1 off Clearbrook Road.
