Policeman Marc Hovingh will receive a long funeral procession when he is returned to his home on Manitoulin Island.

The Waterloo Regional Police Services are one of many police organizations established in honor of Hovingh who died on Sept.. Killed on duty November 11th, they hoist their flags at half mast.

The procession leaves a funeral home in Toronto at noon and travels more than five hours to Little Current on Ontario’s Manitoulin Island.

According to the Special Investigations Unit, Hovingh and Gary Brohman were killed Thursday after an exchange of fire.

Hovingh was one of the officers who responded to a phone call regarding an « unwanted man » on property in Gore Bay, Ont.

The procession is scheduled to travel north on Highway 400 to Highway 69 and then follow Highways 17 and 6 to Little Current. The association, which represents the OPP officials, encourages its members, other police authorities and the public to show their respect during the procession along the route.
