WWE has abandoned its efforts to secure the Brock Lesnar name brand for entertainment services, according to report on HeelByNaturecom
According to the report, the United States Patent and Trademark Office [USPTO] canceled a filing for the mark last month after WWE failed to comply with a request for documentation
After WWE filed the request on January 9 this year, the USPTO denied the request on March 12, saying WWE had to provide written consent from Lesnar to proceed with the filing In addition, the USPTO reportedly « had issues with certain verbiage » WWE used in the app WWE had up to six months to provide Lesnar’s written consent, which it failed to comply with On September 15, WWE’s bid was dropped and correspondence sent to the company on October 2
WWE previously tried to secure the brand in 2016, but failed in their attempt
Lesnar had two contracts with WWE, one as an in-ring performer and the other for merchandise.The two have expired since Lesnar’s last WWE appearance at WrestleMania 36, when he lost the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre WWE has since removed all Lesnar merchandise from the WWE Shop
The report also notes that WWE has until Dec. 2 to appeal the decision, however, it must provide reasons for the delay for not complying with the request for documentation, as well as Brock Lesnar’s consent to go from forward with demand
As noted, Lesnar was recently spotted in Medicine Hat, AB, posing with a fan and sporting a new look
