Cadiz welcomes Atletico Madrid to round 21 of the Italian Serie A at the Estadio Ramon de Carranza.
Cadiz has a 3- Series of games without a win but before that they were solid with 2 wins and 2 draws. In the last three games Cadiz have been eliminated from the Copa del Rey. In those three days they conceded seven goals and only scored two goals. In their last La Liga game, Cadiz faced Sevilla on the road and they were extremely weak in that game. Cadiz only had 20% possession, 3 shots on goal, 6 corners, 2 big chances and only 56% correct passes. Cadiz didn’t stand a chance in this game and lost that match 3-0. Cadiz have only scored 17 goals so far this season and their offensive is almost non-existent but their defense isn’t bad with 27 goals conceded. Cadiz ranks 11th with 24 points. Alvaro Negredo has scored 4 goals and added 3 assists for Cadiz while Lozano added 3 goals. Quezada, Fernandez, Jose, Akapo, Espino and Navarro are all injured while Alex is still in question for this game. Cadiz will stay in LaLiga but I expect them to be a little closer to the relegation zone than they are now.
Atletico have now won 3 games and won 7 of their last 8 games. Their only defeat during this period was in the Copa del Rey against a subordinate team. During their 3-game streak, Atletico have scored 7 goals while conceding just 2 and they are at the top of the table with 47 points, 36 goals and only 8 conceding, making them the best defensive team in LaLiga. Suarez has been in fantastic form and has so far scored 12 goals for Atletico while Felix and Llorente have each scored 6 goals. Trippier, Felix and Correa have each added 4 templates. Herrera, Dembele and Trippier are injured, while Carrasco and Hermoso are both still in question. In their last LaLiga game, Atletico Madrid played at home against Valencia. They had 48% possession, 5 shots on goal, 7 corners, 4 big chances and a solid 81% of correct passes. Atletico lost in the 11th minute but after that they scored 3 unanswered goals and Atletico Madrid won that game 3-1. I don’t just think Atletico will win the La Liga title because they are the best team in Spain this season. If they could carry some of their form into the Champions League, Atletico could well be a dark horse of competition.
Atletico Madrid have an away record of 6-1-1 this season and trends are on their side in this matchup. Cadiz are a weak side with no attack and shaky defense and that is why I expect Atletico Madrid to have a field day here.
