Arsenal’s women’s team matches are coming quickly and quickly, just like the men, and after a thrilling draw against Champions Chelsea at the weekend, they had to return to playing in the Continental Cup last night against our noisy neighbors Tottenham.
After we beat Tottenham 6-1 a month ago and 4-0 the previous month, we were expecting another easy night against our rivals, but with Miedema and Ford they put us 2-1 in just 20 minutes to start the match.. It was far from over.
Somehow Zadorsky broke through the goal in the last minutes to send us into the penalty shootout, and it took a wild, high and wide shot from Tottenham’s Alex Morgan with the final penalty to win the bonus point..
To be fair, we were only fighting for second place in Group B with Tottenham, as Chelsea had previously defeated both of us and he was sure to top the group, but we at least managed to grab some small bragging rights.. Our competitors.
So we entered another international break to finish second in the Women’s Premier League, and are looking forward to an easy home game against Birmingham on their return within 3 weeks.. .
Still a long way to go, but we are still real contenders for the title …
