World news – Cameron Champ WDs of Genesis deals with the Texas winter storm

LOS ANGELES – The winter storms that struck much of the country caused Cameron Champ to retire from the Genesis Invitational late Wednesday.

According to his manager, Champ’s Houston area house suffered winter damage and like a Much of Texas remains without water or electricity. The 25-year-old never traveled to Los Angeles this week and decided to stay home to repair the damage caused by the storm.

Champ was scheduled to join Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau for Rounds 1 and 2 on the Riviera be in a marquee group. He was replaced in the field by Andrew Putnam.
