Canada is currently on the rise at the Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Mexico.

However, coach Mauro Biello and his team must maintain the momentum when they are on Return to Group B on Monday evening in a critical game against Haiti.

The Canadians won an impressive 2-0 win against El Salvador at the start of the tournament. Tajon Buchanan hit the headlines with two goals.

Canada and Honduras are first in Group B with three points, but the Central Americans lead the group because of the goal difference (3v2). Canada can claim a top-two result in Group B and a place in the semi-finals of the tournament by beating Haiti, provided Honduras also beat El Salvador on Monday.

First place could be a more direct route to the Olympic Qualification lead, so that Canada can hardly afford to lose points to Haiti, which lost 3-0 to Honduras. Only the two semi-final winners will qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.

« If you look at some transition moments (compared to El Salvador), I felt we could have been a little better and a little more direct if we could take advantage of some gaps in the transition .  » We want to improve that. « – Canadian coach Mauro Biello

» Haiti is a very physical and athletic team. They have people at the front with a lot of speed. This game is going to be a big game for them – basically it’s about doing or doing something We have to play our game and put in the fight and energy we did (against El Salvador) and try to improve that. ”- Canadian striker Tajon Buchanan
