Emergency services responded Friday night to reports of a multiple vehicle crash on the M1 Princes Highway in Figtree near the Masters Road exit near Wollongong.

A passenger in the car was treated on site before she was flown to Westmead Hospital in critical condition.

The two children were brought to Wollongong Hospital under stable conditions, after they were freed from the rubble.
