World news – Chris Mack lets two assistants – Luke Murray and Dino Gaudio – go to launch the 2021 off-season Kentucky Sports Radio

Louisville head coach Chris Mack wastes no time making changes to his staff

The University of Kentucky basketball, soccer, and recruiting news was delivered to you in the most ridiculous manner.

The Louisville basketball program got an early start to the off-season when the Cardinals were banned from the NCAA tournament field on selection Sunday and head coach Chris Mack wasted no time making changes.

This morning, KSR’s Matt Jones broke the news that Louisville assistant Luke Murray has been fired after serving as the program’s recruiting coordinator for the past three seasons

Source tells KSR that Chris Mack fired Luke Murray as assistant coach on Louisville’s basketball team.

And later that afternoon, WDRB’s Eric Crawford not only confirmed Murray’s departure, but added that the Louisville assistant Dino Gaudio will no longer be employed by Mack after his contract is not renewed.

Well, there is the timing. Wrote this morning about changes en route in the Louisville basketball program, the school now confirms that two assistants’ contracts will not be renewed. Sources say Luke Murray and Dino Gaudio are the coaches moving on. https://t.co/DRS2xNZtQG

Gaudio, who also joined Mack three years ago in 2018, previously worked as a basketball analyst at ESPN for eight years after three years as head coach at Wake Forest would have. In total, Gaudio has 26 years of coaching experience.

While the school has confirmed that two assistants will not renew their contracts, they refuse to appoint the assistants and describe the situation as an « internal staff matter ». </ "Yesterday men's basketball coach Chris Mack informed two deputy men's basketball coaches that their contracts would not be renewed after the April 30 expiration date," said sports intelligence director Kenny Klein on Thursday of Courier-Journal's Shannon Russell. "Coach Mack's focus is on hiring new coaches to move the program forward."

When asked about the future of the program and possible off-season moves, Mack confirmed earlier this week that there were « critical questions » in relation to it on his employees.

« What do I have to do better? Where do I have to grow as a coach? How can I suggest the best team of coaches to work together to help our team improve? “Asked Mack. “I ask these questions every year in the off-season. And after this year they probably need to be much more critical questions. «
