For the first time in more than three weeks, the Cincinnati Bearcats will be in action as they travel to Philadelphia to take on a Temple Owls team that has been up and down lately.
Despite ranking 314th in the country in terms of effective field goal scoring and 339th place on steals forced to defend for possession, Temple has won three of his last five games, in large part because he was 6.9 more free throws per game than their opponents tried.
This is not a good sign for Cincinnati, which tries 4.2 free throws per game less than their opponents and ranks 326th among the teams for fouls per defensive game Division I occupied.
The Bearcats also have a hard time collecting points from outside. They rank 326th in the nation with a 28.2 shot percentage as a team from 3 point range.
The 72.3 points per game that Cincinnati has allowed is the highest for the program since 1988-89 season. The Bearcats have allowed at least 69 points in the last six games and eight points in the last nine games. The Owls, led by security guard Damian Dunns 14.1 points per game and striker Jake Forresters 6.7 rebounds per game, were supposed to take advantage of a Bearcats team that was struggling before a lengthy layoff.
