MUMBAI: Maharashtra Congress leader Nana Patole said Friday that the party was not talking to Shiv Sena, its ally in the government of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), about the demand for India’s highest civil award Bharat Ratna to the Hindutva ideologist Vinayak Damodar Savarkar takes the same stance.

« Bharat Ratna should be conferred on Savitribai Phule and Shahuji Maharaj. Shiv Sena’s stand is not our stand, » Patole told the media as he spoke responded to a question about Shiv Sena’s request for Bharat Ratna to Savarkar.

« Granting Bharat Ratna is the responsibility of the central government, not the matter of the state government, » he added.

This happens two times Days after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray asked the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the State Assembly on Wednesday why the ruling party in central Savarkar has not yet transferred the Bharat Ratna

Previously, in October last year, Sena leader Sanjay Raut asked why the BJP government in the center of Savarkar had not given Bharat Ratna. He also said that the party had never changed its position on Savarkar.
