World news – COVID forces Tassie Supercars to delay

Supercars have decided to postpone the Tasmania SuperSprint event for a week after the COVID-19 outbreak in Queensland.

The event, which was originally scheduled for the weekend of April 10-11, will now take place from April 17th to 18th at the Symmons Plains Raceway near Launceston.

Brisbane and the surrounding areas were closed for three days by the Queensland government from Monday evening following an outbreak of COVID cases. </ Several drivers and team members live in the affected regions, including Red Bull Ampol Racing star Jamie Whincup.

The decision to postpone the event is intended to address issues related to travel restrictions for drivers and team members traveling from Queensland , to be avoided.

The organizers have assured those who bought tickets for the event that they are still valid and will be moved to the new dates.
