World news – Crocodile attack: the swimmer pulls his jaw off his head

A man was hospitalized after being reportedly bitten by a crocodile in Cairns.

At around 12:43 p.m., paramedics were called to an address on Lake Placid Road in Caravonica, where the man was injured at the age of 40

QAS Critical Care paramedic Paul Sweeney was one of the first responders on the scene where the man was bitten on the head by the crocodile.

« We visited a 44-year-old man who appears to have been bitten by a crocodile, » he said.

« There is clear evidence of stab wounds through its scalp on the right side of its head from the upper or lower jaw, and there have been additional stab wounds in the left corner of the jaw with the cheekbone corresponding to a bite the animal bit on the top of its head with the jaws to both Pages.  »

« Suddenly he felt this sudden impact on his head, which he recognized as a crocodile.

« He put his hands in his jaws to remove them from his head, and when he did that and let go, the jaw snapped shut and onto his left index finger, which luckily wasn’t broken or severed.

« He took what he called a slow swim back to the bank where he could pull himself out of the water. He was obviously concerned that the animal would come and attack him again, but it didn’t. »

Mr Sweeney said the man was « very happy » as he had not suffered any significant injuries and only had to clean, sew or glue his wounds.

« Considering the crocodile bit his neck or his neck where the main blood vessels are, it could have been a fatality. Fortunately, it didn’t. »

He said the victim would expect a full recovery and told the medic that he would be swimming again in Lake Placid soon.
