World news – Cubs Prospect Arrested After Police Find 21 Pounds Of Meth In His Team Gear Bag | Bleacher Nation

A horrific story from Colorado where Cubs pitching the potential Jesus Camargo were arrested for substance abuse after he was found in his Cubs kit bag with 21 pounds of methamphetamine and 1.2 pounds of oxycodone.

Camargo, 25, was an IFA who withdrew from Mexico in 2014 and last played at High-A in 2019. It should have taken part in spring training in the minor league in two weeks and presumably opened at High -A South Bend or Double-A Tennessee.

Apparently, Camargo was driving for unclear reasons before spring training in Colorado and was stopped with two passengers, after driving into other lanes. A police affidavit showed Camargo was giving permission to search the car at the time, and a K-9 alerted officers to the presence of drugs. The unidentified passengers were released after they were found unaware of the drugs.

According to reports, Camargo told police, “A friend who lives in the Mexican capital, Sinaloa, called him in Arizona on Tuesday and asked him to deliver a bag to Denver, where he would receive $ 500 upon delivery. [Camargo] said he thought the bag contained shoes or clothing, but previously said he knew there were drugs in the bag, just not drugs, according to police. “

Camargo will probably be away from the organization for a while as this is resolved. I would go into editorial here on ensuring that smaller players are paid appropriately so they can focus on training and not have to resort to second jobs in the off-season, but that feels a little wrong in this particular case.
