In a trailer for her new documentary « Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil », the singer reveals that she suffered three strokes and a heart attack after her overdose in 2018.
« I had crossed a line that I had never crossed before … I was caught, » says 28-year-old Lovato in the clip. “I had three strokes. I had a heart attack. My doctors said I had five to ten minutes to live. “
» I’ve had so much to say in the last two years that I wanted to set the record for what happened, « she adds. « Every time you suppress a part of yourself, it overflows. »
While the exact cause of the overdose has never been confirmed, TMZ reported in 2018 that it was likely oxycodone with fentanyl added .
When asked if she’s « sober now, » Lovato says nothing as she continues to stare at the camera. The four-part series directed by Michael D. Ratner will also cover the heroin use of the singer “I Love Me”, the coronavirus pandemic and her quickie romance, engagement and subsequent separation from Max Ehrich.
During the virtual TCA – Press tour on Wednesday, Lovato explained that she suffered brain damage after the overdose and highlighted some of the other effects of the aftermath. « I don’t drive because I have blind spots in my sight, » she told reporters according to « Entertainment Tonight ». “[I] had difficulty reading for a long time.
