Diogo Jota stated his intention to make a positive impact on Liverpool’s performance after falling off the bench and scoring twice in Saturday’s 3-0 win at Arsenal.

The striker was named among substitutes at the Emirates Stadium after his efforts for Portugal during the international break.

And he was instantly influential after being featured every hour on the hour when he headed off a superb cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold scored to give the Reds a well-deserved lead.

Just a few minutes later, Mohamed Salah added a second before Jota scored from close range in the closing stages of his second game when Jürgen Klopp’s team came up Two points ahead of fourth placed Chelsea.

Very important. I said after the last game, to think about higher places in the table, we have to do our job [which is] to win every single game to the end. If we do that, I think we have a chance to be there. I think if we do our job we have a good chance of being there because it’s very difficult to win in the Premier League. Today we did our job, let’s go to the next one.

Sometimes you go out for a long time without specific goals, but the most important thing is that I was there to make a difference, and that’s what I always want to do.

Unreal! I think it’s not just him, we have very good crossers on the team. We have to use that. It worked today and I hope it can continue to work in the future. Everything [made the delivery excellent]. I just timed my run so I can finish it more easily.

It doesn’t matter whether you start in the starting XI or on the bench, you have to be ready to make an impact. I did that today and I always want to.

To be honest, I expected a bit more possession from Arsenal, they usually do that. But that showed that we pushed really well, we didn’t allow them to have that possession and in the end we controlled the game with the ball and with the goal.

It’s really important. It’s another clean sheet of paper that is really important too. Everyone works hard and well and now we have this tough game against Real Madrid and we want to do that too.
