It’s no secret that Drew Barrymore is obsessed with beauty products. The 45-year-old actress, talk show host and founder of Flower Beauty loves to host regular beauty weeks on Instagram where she shares the latest products she loved. While she loves her serums and moisturizers, one antiaging beauty trick she avoided is plastic surgery on her face.

« I’ve never done anything to my face before and I would love to try not to « she said to Ross Matthews on the Drew Barrymore Show, but, you know, » never say never. «

She went on to explain that if she ever started plastic surgery, she would likely go overboard . « I know myself. I’m addicting. I’m going to have an injection, I’ll look like Jocelyn Wildenstein by Friday, » said Barrymore. (Wildenstein is an American celebrity known for his cosmetic procedures.)

Matthews asked then Barrymore, if there was a point in her career that cemented her aversion to plastic surgery. « I think because I’m so rebellious that I’ve seen all this pressure and I’ve seen all of these women torture themselves have to look a certain way and I thought, « You wretched people, » she replied. “I just never wanted to be afraid of what life would do to me. I’ve probably gone to many opposite extremes. Now I’m bored and safe and healthy. «

Despite saying no to plastic surgery, Barrymore still takes great care of her complexion with a wide variety of products including masks, scrubs, face oils, eye creams and lots of sunscreen.

But even though she does just taking care of her skin, her views on aging have changed over time. « I would love if there was a way to let go and indulge a little more in the ride of life, » she said. « We’re going to age , things will go south and it’s okay, it’s part of life. … I feel more human and vulnerable every year of my life, but I also know how to appreciate more and more every year, « she added.

In an interview with NewBeauty in 2019, she also said she be determined to show her daughters that « aging is a luxury ».

« If we’re lucky, we all get older, » she said. “I just want you to be at peace with who you are and not what you look like. If they’re good, cool people, that’s all I care. «
