World news – Explained: How to Get a $ 200 Qld Travel Voucher

Starting at noon today, Queenslanders can take part in a lottery to win vacation vouchers worth up to $ 200 for travel experiences in the state’s tropical north.

With the 15,000 travel vouchers, successful recipients receive a 50 percent discount on eligible tourist attractions across the Great Barrier Reef, Port Douglas and Cairns up to a value of US $ 200.

To receive a voucher, Queensland residents must submit a ballot to between 12:00 noon today and March 11th.

To be eligible, applicants must be over 18 years of age, with one entry per person permitted.

The winners will receive a text message and an email with the Cairns Holiday Dollars voucher, which they can redeem at participating tourism companies.

Successful applicants can book tourist experiences with their voucher from March 15 to June 25.

The Cairns Holiday Dollars voucher initiative announced yesterday is an incentive to encourage Queenslanders to explore Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef.

The move is expected to generate $ 14 million in additional visitor spending to the Cairns and Great Barrier Reef economies when operators call for help after a year of decimated visitor numbers and the imminent end of the JobKeeper support program.

The program is similar to projects launched in several other states, including the New South Wales initiative that provides $ 100 per person for activities such as meals, movies, and zoo visits in parts of the state.

Prime Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk said the extraordinary measure had the potential to significantly boost the region’s economy, which is more dependent on tourism than anywhere else in the state.

« This is the first time in Queensland that a government has offered coupons to empower and support the tourism industry, » she said.
