World News – GB – Alabama’s COVID-19 exposure app grows with more than 100,000 downloads

Birmingham, Alabama (WBRC) – Started as a way to find out if an academic was infected with COVID-19, but now anyone can use it

The GuideSafe Publicity Notification app is no longer just for students, it is expanding to help many more people in Alabama today

« Only the day the exhibition occurred is shown, » said Curt Carver, UAB vice president and chief facts officer

It works by running on low power in the background and recognizes that you are closed to the human being who owns the app for 15 minutes

« It won’t access your call list, it won’t get GPS, it won’t even know your title, » Carver explained

« Every 10-20 minutes a very long variety is assigned, » he said, noting that it was encrypted

You will be notified if your selection appears to have been discovered to a number yielding a constructive check

« Wearing a mask and maintaining social length are important though, but the app really shines when you’re strangers, » suggests Carver

Hoover and Birmingham have teamed up with UAB to produce a PSA that asks you to download the app
