The famous double show was not introduced when they first met

Ants and December are national treasures and have been popular figures in Britain’s entertainment industry for decades.

The Jordi duo’s sweet characters, apparent symmetry and funny banter have propelled them to stardom, making them one of the most sought-after groups in the country

From their bizarre behind-the-scenes behavior on British’s Got Talent and laughter in the famous woods I’m a Celebrity, to the big-name entertainment titled Ant and Saturday Night Takeaway, the double verb proved to be a force to be reckoned with

Award-winning Anthony McBartlin and Declan Donnelly were born in Newcastle in 1975, just a few months apart

Their first stab at stardom came when they were cast in Byker Grove of CBBC in 1989 before landing a part of the show. Ant starred in the children’s workshop program, Why not?

December has been a regular on Byker Grove since its debut when Ant first appeared in Series Two

Speaking on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross in 2006, the famous duo revealed that things first started getting shaky.

December admitted: « We didn’t like each other at first, I thought [you] was miserable »

But both attribute their tremendous success to the fact that they became friends and collaborated, with Ant adding: « If we hadn’t met, I don’t think we would have come this far. »

The double act left Byker Grove in 1993 and moved to a musical career under their character names, PJ and Duncan AKA. They continued to appear on Top of the Pops in 1994 with their song, Let’s Get Ready To Rumble

Their music continued to hit the charts, with Tonight I’m Free, If I Give You My Number and Eternal Love, all successful, but they didn’t get a single UK song.

By the late 1990s, the double act was focused on a career in television and signed a contract with ITV in 1998

Their first steps were prime-time introductions on the BBC Saturday Night game show Friends Like This, which first aired in 1999

In 2001, the duo’s contract with ITV was renewed for another three years and they got their first prime-time show job on the station, presenting the new Saturday Night reality series, Pop Idol. Their success on the show led to their leaving SMTV

Pop Idol aired for two series before being replaced in 2004 by Simon Cowell’s spin-off talent show, The X Factor, with former Smash Hits editor Kate Thornton

In 2002, Ant and Dec created and presented their own show Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, which is still running today.

In 2006, they returned to acting and released their first feature film, Alien Autopsy.

They keep showing Red or Black and have worked with Holly Willoughby on ITV’s charity program, Text Santa

They continue to serve as exceptionally successful hosts on « I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here » program, which will be releasing this month’s latest series, as well as on « British Talent ».

On January 23, 2019, the duo set the Guinness World Record for « the most number of National Television Awards winning consecutively the Best Presenter Award »

They hold the record and a statement on the Guinness Book of Records website states: « The most National Television Awards for Best Presenter are 19 in a row, and have been achieved by Anthony Mac Bartlin and Declan Donnelly (both in the UK) as of January 28, 2020. » p>
