Bill Bailey, 55, explained how he got a ‘wake-up call’ after comedian Sean Hughes died at the age of 51 in 2017 from cirrhosis The Strictly Come Dancing 2020 star has discussed her friend’s devastating death and revealed what they bonded with when working together
Bill succeeded Sean as team captain on Never Mind the Buzzcocks in 2002
The star said he and Sean became friends away from the show he hosted for six years
« He loved his dog and we bonded with our pets I knew him well then Sean walked away »
The Black Books actor then discussed his friend’s health before his « tragic » death
Bill nodded after the interviewer said, « When your contemporaries start to die, it must be a wake-up call »
He went on to reveal that he had cut down on « profiteroles » and had ridden more bikes since Hughes’ death
In addition to profiteroles, he had to stop eating sugar and carbohydrates while touring the country
The comedian added in an interview with the Evening Standard in 2018: « After the show, I had two soft-boiled eggs and spinach and I almost passed out »

When asked if he wanted to dance to death metal and alternative rock on the show, he shared with Metrocouk: « Yeah, I hope

Bill then expressed his enthusiasm for appearing on the BBC show saying he wanted to ‘bring’ a different style to the show
He disclosed, « So that aspect too, I’m really happy to somehow get involved in this idea of arranging music that you might not necessarily associate with. the series, but of different genres
« Taking inspiration from the music I used in my shows, like metal, rock and finding the arrangements for that, and finding the tempos that can juxtapose one style to another, [It’s] something I do in my shows, almost my USP in my live shows, is the way I cross genres, so I play a song style and song that you wouldn’t necessarily expect to hear in a different style So it follows that I might want to try to bring this to the show «
