World News – GB – Boris ‘to resign in spring because his salary of £ 150,000 is too low’

Boris Johnson reportedly intends to resign next spring because he thinks his salary is too low, Tory MPs have said

The PM reportedly complained to his colleagues that he could not live on his annual salary of £ 150,402 and earn more before taking the top job in July of last year

Shortly before becoming prime minister, Johnson was making £ 23,000 a month for his newspaper column in The Telegraph, in addition to speeches and appearances for which he raised hundreds of thousands of pounds

In just one month he was reportedly paid £ 160,000 for giving two speeches, according to the Mirror

But sources in Whitehall told the newspaper the PM wanted to wait another six months before resigning, so he could complete Brexit and see the UK go through the worst of the pandemic

A MP said Johnson feared raising his six children and sending his youngest son Wilfred to Eton costing £ 42,500 a year

« Boris has at least six children, some young enough to need financial assistance, » the MP reportedly said

« And he had to pay ex-wife Marina Wheeler a rebate as part of their divorce deal »

Another MP called Johnson, who had long pursued his dream of becoming Prime Minister, a « typical adulterer » who was « more interested in the hunt than the prize »

Government officials and former prime ministers can make a lot of money giving speeches and participating in pledges

MPs believe Johnson is envious of his predecessors, with Theresa May having earned more than £ 1million on the conference circuit since resigning last year

David Cameron receives £ 120,000 per speech and Tony Blair is currently worth around £ 22million due to consultancy and conference work

The allegations come after Jennifer Acuri admitted yesterday that she had an affair with Johnson while he was mayor of London

The businesswoman admitted following accusations last year that Johnson gave her favorable treatment as mayor

Prime Minister avoided criminal investigation after police watchdog found no evidence he influenced thousands of pounds of public money attributed to Ms Acuri
