Brian May admitted he was ‘thankful to be alive’ after suffering a heart attack and near-fatal allergic reaction to drugs earlier this year

Speaking candidly on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday about her ordeal, the Queen’s icon, 73, described ‘excruciating’ pain following an allergic reaction to a drug after having stents to clean his three blocked arteries

The guitarist, who chatted alongside West End star Mazz Murray, explained: ‘Yeah, it was pretty bad and the complications that followed were pretty bad

Reflection: Brian May admitted to GMB on Tuesday that he was ‘thankful to be alive’ after suffering a heart attack this year, and said he was in ‘excruciating’ pain after a allergic reaction

« It was a big mountain to pull yourself together but it really became my new religion

‘I’m happy to be alive because three years ago this wouldn’t have happened I had three stents in me, which work great and I feel great’

In May, Brian revealed he was recovering from a torn muscle and trapped nerve from a gardening injury, when he suffered a heart attack during his recovery

Wrestling: The guitarist, who chatted alongside West End star Mazz Murray, explained: ‘It was pretty bad and the complications that followed were pretty bad’

Discussing how he had an allergic reaction to the medication he was taking, the musician continued, «  This is when I almost lost my life, if anyone want to talk about it, contact me

‘Stents are good for the heart, but not good for the body… the worst thing I had was a bleeding in my stomach, I lost a lot of blood

‘I couldn’t get off the ground, I couldn’t move the pain was so excruciating, I couldn’t do the operation back then The heart operation was a cinch compared to that’

Recovery: Brian added, « Glad to be alive because three years ago this wouldn’t have happened I had three stents in me, which are working great and I feel great »

Brian explained that he was ‘not ruling out’ the possibility that his heart attack was the result of COVID-19 without realizing it

‘This is possible because the virus thickens the blood, a lot of people have heart attacks or strokes The only thing is that I don’t check any of the boxes for a heart attack, I don’t drink, I don’t smoke It’s only a theory, I don’t know ‘

Brian said his wife Anita had helped him ‘literally and figuratively’, after he gushed earlier this week on The Daily Express: ‘She totally saved my life because i couldn’t do anything and she just kind of healed me so i will forever be in her debt she did an amazing job on me ‘

Painful: Discussing how he had an allergic reaction to the drug, Brian said he almost died after ‘losing a lot of blood’ from a bleeding stomach
