British Touring Car Championship title contender Tom Ingram has been stripped of his pole position from Croft as Josh Cook inherits the spot for Sunday’s opening race

Ingram’s Toyota Corolla, led by Speedworks Motorsport, failed the ride height test after qualifying, as did Senna Proctor’s Hyundai i30 N Excelr8 Motorsport third

This means that two Honda Civics – Cook’s BTC racing car and Jake Hill’s AmD-led MB Motorsport machine – will share the front row, with Colin Turkington’s and Tom Oliphant’s BMWs in second row

Speedworks team manager Christian Dick showed Autosport the cause of the problem, with a failure of the right front triangle on the Corolla lowering the ride height

« It doesn’t look any better in terms of the result, but it makes it better as long as it wasn’t a mistake on our part, » Dick said

« It was a great effort on Tom’s part, a great effort on the boys’ part, and a little mess like that makes it a tough pill to swallow, but there’s not much we can do about it. subject «

When asked if the failure could have been caused by a sidewalk jump, Dick replied, « It’s hard on the sidewalks through the chicane here, so that could be the guess »

The Excelr8 team were also disappointed with Proctor’s demotion to the rear of the 26-car grid alongside Ingram

« We got there and changed the front tires towards the end of the session, and maybe the pressures weren’t as high as expected, » said Marvin Humphries, Excelr8 team manager at Autosport

« They came from one side and not the other It’s a shame, but we all know that weight and ride height are crucial in this lark

The ripple effects of the double exclusion push Bobby Thompson’s Trade Price Cars Audi S3 up to fifth place, sharing the third row with championship leader Ash Sutton, who sparked the second red flag in crushing his Laser Tools Racing Infiniti Q50, and saw his best qualifying time at that point deleted

A Honda trio is next – Tom Chilton (BTC), Matt Neal (Team Dynamics) and Michael Crees (BTC) – with Rory Butcher’s Motorbase Performance Ford Focus rounding out the top 10
