Actress Matilda Freeman has quit her role in the ITV soap opera, her character currently staying with her grandmother
Now actress Harriet Bibby will reprise the role of the teenager as she returns to the streets in the coming weeks
In the midst of Todd Grimshaw’s dramatic comeback, she will now come face to face with her former guardian after his escape in 2017
Harriet was chosen after Matilda made the decision to leave the role to pursue other opportunities
She first hit the streets in 2017 and has stayed with her godfather Billy Mayhew, Todd’s ex – with Billy adopting him ever since.
When Summer returns, she finds it hard to forgive Todd for leaving them all those years ago
Speaking about her departure, Matilda said: « I would like to thank my second family, the cast, crew and viewers who supported me during my time on the cobbles
« After three and a half beautiful years, I felt it was time for a change and I am delighted to start this next chapter with a new role »
