Dr LA Khan, a doctor from Meerut, was allegedly tricked by two crooks who tricked him from Rs 31 lakh into selling him « Aladdin’s lamp » – a magical item of Middle Eastern folklore
The two crooks, identified as Ikramuddin and Anees, also convinced the doctor of the « magical » characteristics of the lamp which summons a « genie » who fulfills all wishes by rubbing the lamp
According to an NDTV report, Dr LA Khan said the crooks managed to summon the « Aladdin » While outlining the details of the deal between him and the two crooks, Khan said later, he realized that one of the accused had passed himself off as the Aladdin
The same report quotes Khan as saying he first met the two men when they brought a woman in for treatment and described her as their ‘sick mother’
« I started to visit their house to take care of the supposed mother The visits continued for over a month. Gradually they started to tell me about a baba (godman) who they said had also visited their house They started brainwashing me and asked me to meet this baba, ”Dr Khan said in his complaint
The accused men were arrested after an FIR was filed with local police on October 25
