Celtic star Jeremie Frimpong was fortunate enough to avoid injury after being caught by a gruesome tackle from Motherwell’s Devante Cole

The former Manchester City youngster started at right-back as Neil Lennon’s side looked to bounce back from their midweek dismemberment by Sparta Prague

In the second half, with Celtic leading 2-0 thanks to a brace from Moi Elyounoussi, Frimpong looked for a break to the right

Cole came up to the challenge but caught his opponent above the knee with visible cleats

The tackle sent Frimpong collapsing onto the grass, with understandable fears he suffered a serious injury

Incredibly the Motherwell man only received a yellow card for the tackle, Cole maybe lucky that VAR has yet to be introduced to the Premiership

Hatem Elhamed was sent to warm up for Celtic but Frimpong managed to get up and play

After 10 minutes he was pulled out for the Israeli, and the youngster appeared to be limping as he made his way to the sideline

The 19-year-old has become a regular since joining the squad last year and although his defensive contribution has been called into question he has become a fan favorite for his overwhelming forward forays
