The Donegals are safe in Division 1 for a year after taking down Tyrone at MacCumhaill Park today
It was Declan Bonner’s first game in seven and a half months and they earned their victory
Donegal started well and advanced 1-3 to 0-2 after eight minutes with Peadar Mogan scoring an excellent goal
Declan Bonner’s side improved their game mid-half with Niall O’Donnell and Ryan McHugh in great shape and they were 1-9 to 1-6 at the break
Tyrone kicked in the first two points of the second half, before Jamie Brennan scored a goal for Donegal in the 40th minute
It was tit-for-tat after that, but Donegal was in good control and was still four in the lead at the second half break
Donegal never seemed to lose and the last points of Caolan McGonagle, Michael Murphy and Andrew McClean secured their victory
Tyrone has always been poor and while Conor McKenna scored a consolation goal to the death, the final score flattered them
The teams will meet again in the Ulster Championship in two weeks, but before that Donegal will travel to Tralee to meet Kerry in the Championship next Saturday
