Northern Rail said floodwaters made trains 'impossible to run'

Nordic services between Wigan Wallgate and Southport are currently suspended after flooding made trains « impossible to run »

Northern Rail has said it is « doing all it can » to reduce water levels that began to rise above the line at Parbold and New Lane stations this morning

A rail replacement bus operates from Wigan Wallgate on time and Southport half an hour away

The company said compensation for delays is available to all customers whose trips are delayed by 15 minutes or more this afternoon

Chris Jackson, Regional Manager for Northern, said: “Unfortunately due to flood water we are not able to operate our usual services between Southport and Wigan – and this is impacting services as well. who would normally travel to Stalybridge and Alderley Edge
