A deal could not be made, however, and now the midfielder is on the hunt for a new club following his exit from Parkhead
Burt also spent time training with Sunderland in League One and was hoping to land a move, but it is understood the Black Cats opted to sign a more experienced player ahead of him.
Burt recently spoke with Herald and Times Sport about his time as a Celts and Light Blues player. He still has admirers at both clubs behind the scenes, but he admitted it would always be difficult to oust Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor
“It will always be a challenge to break in,” he said. « I knew before I came home I was confident in my ability which I showed to the manager and he gave me good praise when I was there Especially after my year at Rangers with injuries
