While Gavin & Stacey won’t be back this Christmas, it could be in the future, the BBC has hinted.

The BBC has drawn attention to the possible return of Gavin & Stacey after the sitcom’s record breaking Christmas special last year.

While announcing the BBC’s 2020 festive schedule, the broadcaster’s chief content officer, Charlotte Moore, told BBC News that a sequel to last year’s episode was not planned, saying, « That wouldn’t happen this year, » Before you add, “One day. ”

The sitcom, written by and with Ruth Jones and James Corden, ran on BBC Three and BBC One between 2007 and 2010 before returning in 2019, featuring Matthew Horne, Joanna Page, Alison Steadman, Larry Lamb, Rob Brydon and Melanie Walters repeats her beloved roles for a one-off Christmas special.

The episode left viewers at a big cliffhanger ending with Nessa (Jones) Smithy (Corden) making a proposal on Christmas Day in Barry Island.

Fans have since wondered if the closing question of the special meant the gang would return for an entire series, which Corden answered during a screening of the special last year and told the crowd, « I think obviously there’s room To keep it going, I’ll just say who knows? “

However, he added that there was « no plan » at the time, while Jones told RadioTimes earlier this year. com: « I wish I could say we would, but at the moment there really aren’t any plans. ”
