World News – GB – Kai Havertz: The story behind the £ 72million man

A look back at how Kai impressed so many people and overcame so much at such a young age

The start of Kai Havertz’s Chelsea career has been slow as the German has failed to register a Premier League goal or assist so far this season but the German managed to get out of goal for the Blues in the Cup with a hat-trick against Barnsley

Maybe people will attribute Havertz’s slow start to the fact that there was a huge pre-season lack, but in the Carabao Cup game Havertz was allowed to play in his number role. 10 favorite and it really started to show its qualities

Havertz grew up in a quiet but beautiful German village called Mariadorf On a Saturday morning he would wake up and just have to walk 500 meters down the road and see his local location

His irregular and messy local pitc was nothing special, nothing more than your typical local club’s pitch, but for Havertz and many other Alemannia Mariadorf players it was home

From an early age, Havertz made a name for himself in the village, being able to play in teams up to four years older than him and stand out as the best player

At the age of eight, Bayern Leverkusen first made contact with Havertz’s family and wanted the midfielder to start playing at a higher level of football

Two years later it was time for Havertz to take the leap and start testing himself at a higher level, so his family moved to the city and he joined Alemannia Aachen

At the time, Alemannia Aachen was playing in 2 The Bundesliga and it was the team that Havertz grew up supporting, but in his first and only season he went to a tournament in Cologne and after performances exceptional, bigger clubs began to spot his talent

After the tournament Havertz moved to Bayern Leverkusen where he settled quickly, playing mostly as a center playmaker, but would also be able to play wide

« When I was 14 or 15, I was still one of the smaller players on the team, » Havertz told the Bundesliga’s internal media channel last year. « Then I had a pretty dramatic growth spurt I had to get used to my legs being longer – it affects the whole way you play football «

Havertz led Leverkusen’s Under-17 team to the Bundesliga title which really started to put his name on the map, so much so that in the same year he became the youngest Bundesliga player to ever 17 years and 126 days when he made his upcoming debut as under in the 2-1 defeat against Werder Bremen

By the age of 18 Havertz had already started to consolidate his position in the Leverkusen squad but had to miss two huge games against Atlético Madrid and Schalke as he was still passing his school exams

Once Havertz was out of school he hit a bit of a bump road, was all that pressure on the young boy too much?

Havertz was in bad shape, neither scoring nor assisting for 12 games and Leverkusen supporters began to get on his back by booing him during a game against Hertha Berlin just before the winter break

All this did was motivate the youngster and it was clear to see as horrible as it must have been he came back better scoring 15 goals and getting seven assists in the next 24 games while putting many men’s performance of the match

Chelsea FC, Kai Havertz, Premier League, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Bayer 04 Leverkusen
