Actor and comedian Bobby Ball, who was half of Cannon&Ball’s beloved double act, died aged 76 on Wednesday night

Husband and wife comedians – Janette and Ian Tough – appeared on Good Morning Britain on Friday to recall working with the star they shared « very disciplined » and « born with a comic »

The couple said they were saddened by the loss of the star – who died Wednesday at the age of 76 – as they video called the GMB from Australia’s Gold Coast where they were locked out

During the conversation Janette fondly remembered Bobby as a « funny little man » and added that he was « good company »

Ian shared that Bobby was dedicated to comedy, adding: « He was very disciplined, he wouldn’t take messing around

The couple – who last saw the Cannon&Ball star in Blackpool last year – last performed with him in 2008 as part of the Best of British Variety tour and said they had good memories of the sold-out show

Bobby – real name Robert Harper – died at Blackpool Victoria Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19

The actor and comedian had been taken to hospital with respiratory problems before he was confirmed to have the coronavirus

A statement from the duo’s management read: « It is with great personal sadness that on behalf of Yvonne Ball, the family and Tommy Cannon, I announce that Bobby Ball has passed away in hospital Blackpool Victoria October 28, 2020 approximately 9:30 p.m.

« Bobby had been taken to hospital for tests because he had breathing problems At first it was thought to be a lung infection, but a test came back positive for Covid-19

« His wife Yvonne said the hospital and staff could not have been more wonderful as they were exceptional at their jobs and they went out of their way for him and she cannot congratulate them enough

« She said the family and Tommy would like to express their sincere thanks to the many people who have been fans of Bobby and know that they will all share in part the great loss and utter sadness that Yvonne, the family and Tommy all feel each other

« Yvonne added that their need for privacy at this time should be a priority No further announcements or statements will be made »
