Argyll and Bute will be at level two of new Covid-19 restrictions announced today by Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon
Neighboring West Dunbartonshire will remain subject to a higher level of restrictions and enter level three when the new measures take effect on November 2

Cinemas, game rooms and bingo halls remain open but smooth games, funfairs, indoor bowling, casinos, theaters, billiard or billiard halls, concert halls , nightclubs and adult entertainment venues will be closed
Indoor hospitality – such as restaurants, bars and cafes – will be able to stay open until 8 p.m. and alcohol will be on sale to those having a meal
During a debate in the Scottish Parliament over this new multi-tiered system, Dumbarton MP Jackie Baillie said the public, workers and business owners needed so much clarity as possible to ensure compliance with the rules
She called for specific support to the hospitality and tourism sectors to help mitigate the effects of the crisis on their ability to function
« I welcome the fact that only level 4 hotel businesses will have to close completely, » she said
« Allowing restaurants to resume selling alcohol in Level 2 areas and being able to open in Level 3 areas will be a relief for business owners who continue to face enormous uncertainty. p>
« They will always experience huge losses of income and it is vital that local authorities and the Scottish and UK governments work together to ensure that support is in place for those who need it
« There are local hotel businesses that are on the verge of collapse and assistance needs to be provided quickly. Locally we can do our part to try to support them
“The Prime Minister is calling on locals, especially those living along the border of West Dunbartonshire and Argyll and Bute, not to travel between these areas or even Glasgow for any purpose. except essential
« This will only lead to an increase in the number of cases and increase the likelihood of transmission
« I encourage everyone to follow these new sets of restrictions – I know they disrupt our lives tremendously and we all want to get back to a sense of normalcy
« These levels are in place to keep us safe and we hope to begin to see the benefits of our sacrifices when the number of cases drops and fewer lives are lost »
