‘ I am very lucky to have attended these games’ – Dean Furman THAT day in Brentford, leaving and reuniting with Doncaster Rovers this weekend

This is the kind of halftime command Rovers would have wished for at the start of a busy week of action.

It was a fast paced and furious game at times, but Rovers always had the touch of quality and serenity to give them the edge.

They were on the rise when they took the lead, and they kept their foot on the gas pushing for more even after Ben Whiteman doubled his own record.

It should be a comfortable afternoon from here, but rovers can take it themselves.

Ben Whiteman becomes embroiled in a few aftermath with Callum Guy and Jon Mellish after Josh Kayode is booked to dive in the box. All three evade their own booking.

Rovers kept the ball alive deep in the Carlisle area, and Whiteman eventually took possession, worked for a shot, and curled up for the bottom corner. Farman got a hand but couldn’t keep it away.

Reece James shoots a shot on goal that Paul Farman knocks off Rovers after an excellent counterattack. Josh Sims was held halfway but shot away from his husband and stabbed a ball at James.

Rovers moved the ball well on the edge of the field, with Taylor Richards flicking the ball into space for the rushing Whiteman and the Rovers skipper rolling a nice try from the edge of the box to the bottom corner.

Danny Amos clings to a loose ball on the left and pushes forward, always with the intention of shooting. But his efforts to score were directed straight at the goalkeeper.

A nice little move from Rovers after a free kick from the sideline. The room opened for Tom Anderson to storm forward and he slipped a nice pass through for Fejiri Okenabirhie. The striker brought the ball under control but pulled his shot far out of bounds.

Tom Anderson intervened in time to deny Jon Mellish a shot on goal after hitting a cross from the edge of the box.

Rovers are good on the ball, but it is difficult for them to have sustained possession in the final third. The frenetic nature of the game hasn’t really calmed down as the half hour approaches.

Everything starts here. Carlisle scored the first real save of the game when Omari Patrick shot a shot from the corner of the box and Joe Lumley pushed the shot away.

A brilliant final attack from Callum Guy has just denied Fejiri Okenabirhie a clear shot on goal. Okenabirhie did well to get Reece James’ distracted pass under control.

A long throw into the box was missed and thrown over two sets of heads before falling to Jon Mellish just yards away, just so he could shoot over the bar.
