. .

The Leeds United U-23 team is back in action after the international break this afternoon as they host West Bromwich Albion at Thorp Arch.

Mark Jackson’s team got off to a good start in Premier League 2 and is second in Division 2 after eight games, but has to face a Baggies team that has only lost once this season and after Game fifth in the table occupies two fewer matches than the whites.

Leeds are looking to bounce back from their 4-3 defeat at Newcastle United last time around and are hoping Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt’s excellent form last season will continue.

Great performance from Leeds in the second half which showed they had the quality and patience to break a really rigid West Brom defense.

Ultimately, the magic that won the match came from Helder Costa, but the guys showed great determination to keep on sticking and patiently attack. Very few headstrong recordings as Leeds selected their moments with poise and clarity.

The left side was particularly creative today. Leif Davis caused problems in the first half and Niall Huggins did so in the second.

Interesting game by Greenwood, who played the majority in a deeper role behind Bobby Kamwa and then Tyler Roberts. Despite some rough touch, he gave a good report on himself.

Defensively, Leeds proved to be much safer in the second half with Ollie Casey alongside Charlie Cresswell. Cody Drameh looked a lot more comfortable in the full-back too.

A two-half game for Leeds that sparked a riot in the second half and eventually secured victory with late goals from Tyler Roberts and Helder Costa.

The older players have played their part, but the contributions of Niall Huggins, Bobby Kamwa and Sam Greenwood all deserve credit for outstanding, tireless accomplishments

Wonderful goal from Helder Costa who hits four men on the way to the goal that puts Leeds in the lead.

Receives the ball on the edge of the field and the Portuguese winger sneaks through the West Brom defense on his own.

Tyler Roberts kicks the ball home from the edge of the box into the corner of the net after a patient builds up.

Great game to the right of Kamwa and then left with Huggins to create the space for Roberts.

He did well in an unknown role and regained a lot of possession in the center. A very good layer.

Tyler Roberts almost breaks Leeds’ duck, but WBA keeper French gets a strong hand to tip the shot over.

The West Bromwich Albion striker was a thorn in the side of Leeds United this afternoon.

Leeds is building a lot of pressure. The interaction in the last third is much more sophisticated than in the first half.

The striker shoots from a narrow angle and it’s a good save against Sam French in the West Brom goal.

Leeds are in control of everything in this game apart from the goal line. Drameh has certainly improved since joining the right-back.

Sam Greenwood tries to cling to a brilliant Huggins floating ball but is unable to bring it down.

Leeds started more smoothly in this second half. Huggins and McCarron swap positions on the left flank.

Tyler Roberts, Pascal Struijk and Helder Costa replace Leif Davis, Rodrigo and Ian Poveda during the break.

A remodel of Mark Jackson’s pack. Pascal Struijk slips into midfield and Ollie Casey falls back into the middle.

Leeds are following the crowd thanks to an early goal from Cheikh Diaby. West Brom has established itself since his leadership and rarely threatened.

Mark Jackson’s side has done most of the pressure, but so far it has been missing an edge.

Rodrigo and Poveda were involved, but Leeds have given up possession too often in midfield.

Great chance for Niall Huggins at the end of half after a great game by Poveda and Kamwa on the right, but the right-back is unable to get his shot in from 15 yards.

Visitor captain Tom Solanke gives way to a knee injury. He is represented by No.. Replaces. 14 Aurio Teixeira.

Leif Davis picks up his man on the left flank and cuts into it. His cross is diverted into the grip of the West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper.

Patient build and a good run from Davis. Leeds is just missing the clinical finishing touches at the moment.

Poveda feeds Rodrigo in the box, but the Spaniard does not touch him. Could have been a real chance for Leeds.

West Brom is more reluctant to bring too many bodies forward, forcing Leeds into large areas.

Ian Poveda causes problems on the right side but struggles to connect with the players in the final third.

Tyrese Dyce gets in behind Niall Huggins and shoots over the gate. Not worrying for Casilla this time.

Niall Huggins wins the ball back in the last third and feeds Rodrigo, who pushes the ball to Kamwa on the edge of the penalty area. His shot flies past the goalkeeper’s right post.

Rodrigo’s header on the edge of the field deflects into Diaby’s path after a free kick and the French shoots past Casilla.

Bright start in the middle of Sam Greenwood, made some key interceptions and supported Bobby Kamwa well so far.

Sam Greenwood plays a little deeper than usual and wears No.. 8 shirt for Leeds.

Mark Jackson has named Charlie Cresswell, Ollie Casey and Leif Davis in today’s starting XI along with full-backs Niall Huggins and Cody Drameh.

Could indicate that Casey will play a little further up front in midfield while Davis and Cresswell – who will take over the armband – play in the center-back.

A lot of experience in this Leeds team with three first-team players in the starting eleven and another three on the bench.

Rodrigo, Poveda and Casilla start while Costa, Struijk and Roberts sit on the submarine bench. No Joe Gelhardt today, but five-goal forward Sam Greenwood is also one of the players Mark Jackson can draw on from his replacement.

Leeds United, West Bromwich Albion F. . C.. . , Tyler Roberts, Rodrigo
