Martin Kemp and his wife Shirlie spoke about brain tumors he battled in the 90s

The Wham! singer, 58, admitted she believed her husband, 59, would die, as he said they were ‘on the floor’ while they were sick

Speaking on Wednesday’s episode of This Morning, Shirlie said, « We kind of hid how bad Martin was

« One of the most difficult things mentally was knowing he had this huge brain tumor, having this huge operation where they removed part of his skull and put titanium plates in his head , and he also had another tumor »

Martin’s illness came to a high point in his career as he enjoyed success with the Spandau Ballet and his role as Steve Owen on EastEnders was forthcoming

Martin added: « All of a sudden it collapsed and in four or five years our life was on the ground, and it was up to us whether we could make it work and get it back on track. »

In 1995, he found a lump on the back of his head and an MRI revealed he had two brain tumors

But the doctors thought it was too risky to operate on the other, which was deep in his brain

The couple looked into alternative treatments and discovered a revolutionary non-invasive radiotherapy treatment at the time
