The Spice Girls toured the UK and Ireland in 2019, sadly without Victoria Beckham, and Melanie Chisholm said:’ It wouldn’t be rude to ‘start again soon
Melanie Chisholm has apparently confirmed that the Spice Girls will be returning on tour, although this is delayed due to Covid-19
The 46-year-old spoke to Lorraine Kelly on her ITV show Wednesday and said: « It would be rude not to » take the stage again with the other women
She said: « We had the most amazing year last year playing at stadiums across the UK and Ireland and we have to start over, we talk about it all the time »
However, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, she said she would likely be ‘delayed’ – so that might not happen in 2021 as many had hoped
« I think a lot of the great artists who were planning to perform this year will move on to next year so unfortunately that is probably delaying the return of the Spice Girls – but I’m doing everything in my power to make it happen happen «
Mel opened up about her relationship with her bandmates Geri Halliwell, 48, Melanie Brown, 45, Emma Bunton, 44, and Victoria Beckham, 46
She said: « I think we like each other more than ever. We love each other and we drive each other equally, but we’re like family, it’s just one of those things »
Lorraine asked Mel about the possibility of a Spice Girls movie, although a biopic like the Elton John movie Rocketman, rather than a fun movie like Spice World
The Never Be the Same Again singer said: « I think it’s the perfect time, looking back on last year, the nostalgia, 20, 25 years old
« So many people came to the shows and relived their childhoods, I think the Spice Girls story is perfect for one of those movies »
The Spice Girls were all about « girl power » and Mel says seeing that in the next generation gives her « confidence »
« My little girl is 11 years old, she is so sassy, she has a lot of feminine power, which gives me a lot of confidence for the future »
