I’m a celebrity … Get me out of here! Fans were delighted to see Sir Mo Farah’s name top of his list of fellow 2020 franchise stars – but not everyone was dazzled by the news.. Mo, 37, revealed his coach is « not very happy » as he will miss weeks of rigorous training sessions to join the ITV’s star-studded cast of actors.

The long-distance runner holds the title of the most successful British track athlete in Olympic history, having scored a double wins at the Legendary Games.

Mo, a father of four, won a gold medal in both the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, stuck to an intense training regime in the years that followed, and maintained his athletic ability.

Fortunately for his « I’m a Celebrity » camp mates, Mo is considering taking some of his wisdom to the camp site, and conducting training sessions for the other nine contestants..

“And when I’m not training I’m a little crazy! I miss training while I’m at camp and my coach isn’t very happy!

Under his coach’s guidance, Mo’s weekly workout schedule spans seven days, with 11-mile recovery cycles, strengthening and conditioning sessions, and shorter warm-up sessions.

Mo’s reputation as a sporting legend may heighten expectations that he will perform well in the trials, but he refuses to let the pressure get to him..

“I think there will be a lot of pressure but I hope it’s good,” he admitted.

« I know that eating experiences involve gross things but you just have to hold your nose and crack! »

Athletic ability aside, Mo is keen to distance himself from the image of a serious Olympic champion, and instead shows a more enjoyable side of himself to viewers..

“I know a lot of people would be surprised because they don’t see me that way,” he said.

“And my kids would follow me too and say, ‘I can’t see you do that Dad’ but I want to give it a try! I want to have fun in the camp!  »

Sir Mo revealed that he has one Achilles heel, however, which may make some of the legendary « I’m a Celebrity » challenges difficult to bear – he can’t stand the fearful creep.

Mo spent the lockdown enjoying some quality family time, living in his home in Surrey with his wife Tania and their four children – their daughters Rayana, Aisha, Amani and their son Hussain.

While enduring the sea breeze and the harsh winds of the « I’m a Celebrity » camp at Goresh Castle in North Wales, Mo admitted that his biggest challenge would be the time he spent away from his family.

“Hope there is a job where you are given a picture. I admit that I will miss them.

“My oldest daughter knows and thinks I’m crazy! My wife thinks it’s funny and she told me she can’t wait to watch!”
