Sir David Attenborough, Pastry Queen Mary Berry and Poiret star David Suchet have been named in the Queen’s Birthday Honors, which only further strengthens the trio’s status as that national icons even more

Reacting to the news, Mary, who many have come to love during her turn on Great British Bake Off, said she was ‘overwhelmed to receive the very high honor’ of becoming a lady during of the celebration

She said, via PA: “I am absolutely delighted to receive this very great honor. For most of my life I have been fortunate enough to follow my passion of teaching cooking through books and media

« I just wish my parents and brothers were here to share my joy, because my only achievement in school was just an O level in cooking of course!

« However, I am sure they are looking down and smiling. I will be celebrating with my husband and family very soon »

She was appointed CBE in 2012 for her services to the culinary arts and once described being invited to Buckingham Palace for a reunion with the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh as her ‘greatest memory’

Berry was named alongside documentary and nature historian Sir David Attenborough, who received a new honor from the Queen

The beloved broadcaster, who was knighted in 1985, was made a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George for his television and curatorial services

This is the latest tribute to Sir David, 94, who is perhaps the most famous naturalist in the world

The tireless presenter began his career bringing the majesty of the natural world to millions of viewers and now delivers powerful warnings on the stakes in the fight against climate change

His impact on British culture is enormous He was not only a pioneer of wildlife programming, but he had a spell as a controller of BBC Two and was responsible for bringing color television to Britain

Instead of retiring, Sir David continued to work and his documentaries became more candid on the subject of climate change, with his latest project, A Life On Our Planet, showing us the devastating effect of change climate on the world (and upsetting Prince George in the process)

In January, he warned that « the time for crisis has come » and that « life and death decisions » must be made to tackle the problem

His call spans generations, and earlier this month he answered questions from many celebrity fans, including Dame Judi Dench, 85, and teenage pop sensation Billie Eilish
