The British government today opened a new coronavirus testing center in Dundee in the city center
The UK government opened today [Friday October 16] a new walk-in coronavirus testing center in Dundee Located in the Park Place car park in the city center, the site is easily accessible for those without a car
The new facility is provided by the UK government as part of a UK-wide effort to continue to improve accessibility of coronavirus testing for local communities It is operated by Mitie on behalf of British government
The Dundee site is Scotland’s first self-cleaning facility This involves decontaminating each test cell with a dry mist between each use, which helps to speed up the cleaning process and increase testing capacity
The test center is part of the largest network of diagnostic testing facilities established in British history In Scotland, it comprises six drive-thru sites, eight transit sites, 21 mobile units, as well as the Glasgow Lighthouse Lab which works 24 hours a day to process samples
In Scotland, UK government provides all COVID testing and testing treatment outside the NHS About two-thirds of all daily testing is provided by the UK government, in support of Scottish health services
Testing should be booked in advance at wwwnhsinformscot / test-and-protect or by calling 0800 028 2816 People should only book a test if they have symptoms of coronavirus: high temperature, cough new and ongoing, or a loss or change in their sense of smell or taste
We continue to expand UK government testing to make sure anyone with symptoms can get tested, through our new walk-in sites, making it even easier, no matter where you are live
This new site is part of our UK test network, which has the capacity to test over 1 million people per week and is growing continuously
